Causes of hypokalaemia



1.      Deficient daily dietary intake
2.      Loss from alimentary tract ( diarrhea, vomiting, intestinal obstruction)
3.      Loss in urine due to
a)      Increased aldosterone secretion
b)     Diabetic ketoacidosis
c)      Metabolic alkalosis
d)     Diuretics treatment
e)      Renal tubular damage
4.      Redistribution into cells
a)      Beta adrenergic stimulation
b)     Insulin treatment
c)      Hypokalaemic periodic paralysis
