Isoenzyme



Isoenzymes are enzymes which are functionally same, but structurally different.
They are physically distinct forms of the same enzyme.
Importance of isoenzyme:
1.      Specific diagnosis of disease.
2.      Assessment of disease prognosis.
Commonly used isoenzyme:
1.      Creatine phosphokinase
2.      Lactate dehydrogenase
3.      Alkaline phosphatase
4.      HMG CoA synthase
5.      Carbamoyl phosphate synthase.
